Themes: Sovereignty and authority of God
Almighty and Sovereign God, as we gather in Your name, we come humbly, recognizing Your supreme authority over all things. For “the earth is [Yours], and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” 1
We gather in reverence, acknowledging that You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end – ruler of heaven and earth.
Lord, may Your authority be the foundation of our praise. May our songs and prayers resonate with the truth that You hold all things together, and in Your strong hands, we find refuge. In your Word we find light. In your love we find comfort.
Holy Spirit, prepare our hearts, and “let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe.” 2
Help us to shake off apathy and residual unbelief. Overcome any fearful doubt with confidence that we can draw near and receive mercy and find grace before the throne of God. 3
In the name of Jesus, who reigns with You in eternal glory, we pray. Amen.
