Prayer of Confession Based on Isaiah 53
Heavenly Father,
We acknowledge the truth of your word – that we are powerless to save ourselves.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one of us to our own way and have sinned against you in word and deed. Forgive us, Lord. Have mercy on us.
For You, O God, have laid upon Your own Son the iniquity of us all.
Surely Christ has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.
On the cross He was wounded for our transgressions;
and was crushed for our iniquities.
The wrath of God upon His back has purchased for us peace with God.
By the wounds of Jesus, we find healing.
By His death we find life.
By His resurrection, we have the hope of an eternal dwelling place with you, O God.
We offer to you our deepest thanks and our highest praise for the hope we have in Jesus.
